SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a man after an arrest following a 4-hour standoff at a Kansas home.
Just before 1p.m. Monday, the Shawnee County Emergency Communications Center began receiving several calls about erratic driving near SE 15th Street and SE Adams Street in Topeka, according to Lt. Ron Eakis.
The suspect reportedly rammed at least one vehicle. Responding police officers located a vehicle matching the same description parked in the driveway of a residence at 108 SW Hampton Street.
Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect later identified as Steven M. Rule, Jr. 36, of Topeka, but he barricaded himself inside the home.
Officers negotiated with the Rule for more than four hours. Just before 6p.m., police took him into custody. Rule is being held on requested charges of that include an outstanding felony warrant, according to Eakis.
