SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating an alleged school threat and have made an arrest.
Just after 7p.m. Wednesday, the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding a potential threat to the Tallgrass Student Learning Center, 5740 SW 61st Street in Topeka. The school is in USD 437 Auburn-Washburn.
A student made threatening comments regarding bringing a firearm to school the next day, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.
The Shawnee County Criminal Investigation Division immediately contacted school administrators and the suspect identified as a 14-year-old.
At 10:30p.m., deputies arrested the 14-year-old and booked the teen into the Shawnee County Juvenile Department of Corrections on requested charges of felony criminal threat and felony interference with law enforcement.
