Another violent Kansas suspect escaped drug treatment

SALINE COUNTY—For the third time since late May, law enforcement in Saline County are working to find an inmate who escaped from drug treatment.

Just after 5p.m. Sunday, 25-year-old Xavier Levi Murrell of New Cambria escaped from a treatment center located in the 8900 block of E. Orme Street in Wichita, according to Saline County Undersheriff Brent Melander.

Murrell was housed as an inmate in the Saline County Jail and the Sheriff's Office was notified at approximately 6:32 pm that he escaped.

In March Murrell was booked into the Saline County jail on a probation violation, according to online records. In April he was back in jail on additional accusations of a probation violation; theft of property or services and interference with law enforcement.

Murell was booked for crimes in 2024 that include Violation of a protection order, Intimidation of a witness or victim, Criminal threat and Domestic battery.

On August 11, Sheriff Deputies transported and dropped off Murrell at the treatment center.

Suspect description:

- Xavier L. Murrell, white male, 25 years of age

- 5’09”, 134 lbs., brown eyes/brown hair

- Last known address – New Cambria, KS

The Sheriff's has no clothing descriptions or any other details and are following to gain more information. 

Two other escapees

Murrell is among two other Saline County inmates who escaped from a treatment center, including Phoenix Ryan Leonard (30) and Allen Joseph Marlow Jr. (32)

Leonard is described as a White male,  6 feet tall, weighing 263 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

It is unknown what clothing he was wearing.

In June of 2024, police arrested Leonard on requested charges of aggravated burglary and domestic violence.

In January, police arrested him after a chase and crash in a reported stolen vehicle. Top speeds during that pursuit reached 120 mph.

Leonard hid on the roof of a home and was injured when he fell through a skylight. He was hospitalized and later booked into jail, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Marlow is described as a white male 6-foot-2, 158 pounds with Brown/balding hair and brown eyes. He was last seen running eastbound in the 600 block of East Elm Street in Salina just after 7 p.m on May 18. 

He was wearing grey sweatpants and blue t-shirt.

Marlow has previous convictions for aggravated battery, domestic battery, criminal restraint, obstruction, aggravated endangering a child, fleeing or attempting to elude and for drugs, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.

All three suspect's whereabouts are unknown at this time
