SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement and railroad officials are investigating a fatal accident.
Just after 5p.m. Tuesday, a Union Pacific train struck and killed an individual near N Kansas Ave and NE Norris Street, according to Meg Siffring with Union Pacific.
The train crew was not injured. Union Pacific is working with local authorities to understand what led up to the incident. The name of the victim has not been released.
