Kan. inmate held for ICE dies after found unresponsive in cell

ALLEN COUNTY —An inmate held in the Allen County Kansas Jail on drug allegations and an ICE detainer has died.

According to a statement from the Allen Coounty sheriff's office, the 29-year-old inmate was found in medical distress and unresponsive in his cell on Tuesday.  EMS administered life saving measures and transported him to Allen County Regional Hospital. He later placed on life support and transferred to St. Luke's in Kansas City. He was pronounced deceased just after 1p.m. Wednesday.

The KBI is in charge of the death investigation. The sheriff's office has not released the inmate's name.
