Inmate serving time for child sex crimes in Kansas has died

LANSING, Kansas. – Lansing Correctional Facility (LCF) resident Brian Jones, 47, died Friday, June 21, according to a statement from the Kansas Department of Corrections.

He was admitted to a local hospital on Tuesday. He was pronounced deceased by hospital personnel late Friday afternoon.

Jones was serving a 34-month sentence for conviction of Sexual Exploitation of a Child in Johnson County.

The cause of death is pending the results of an independent autopsy.

Per protocol, when a resident dies in the custody of the KDOC, the death is under investigation by the KDOC and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
