SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a teen for an alleged threat at a Kansas high school, according to Shawnee County Sheriff Brian Hill.
Just before 9:30a.m. Feb. 23, a deputy/school resource officer with the Shawnee County Sheriff's Office received information regarding a potential threat to a high school.
During the investigation, it was discovered that a student used his school computer to search for firearms and made threatening comments regarding bringing a firearm to the school.
Just before 10a.m., a 16-year-old was arrested in the 5900 Block of SW 61 Street, the address of Washburn Rural High School, and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of criminal threat and interference with law enforcement.
