Kansas woman sentenced for role in drug-deal murder

SEDGWICK COUNTY — A Kansas woman is going to prison for her role in a fatal shooting of a 42-year-old man at a Wichita hotel in 2021. 

 Shae Marie Roberts, 37, was sentenced to nearly 8-years in prison, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.

Earlier this year, Roberts pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and attempted distribution of meth. 

In Sept. of 2021, police arrested Roberts  in connection with the shooting death of Michael Martinez at the Extended State America, 9450 E Corporate Hills, in Wichita, according to Officer Charley Davidson.   Martinez of Wichita who had been shot was pronounced deceased on the scene. 

Roberts was arrested a week after the crime and her accomplice 32-year-old Patricio Gomez was arrested at the Mexico border in El Paso, Texas in March 2022 after the pickup truck he was driving got stuck on the Rio Grande.

  In February, Gomez was sentenced to life in prison the fatal shooting, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.
