
SALINE COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating alleged child abuse in Saline.
Just after 5p.m. August 24, Kansas Department of Children and Families contact police about a possible assault of a child under the age of 12 who had been battered by a known adult associate at a home in Salina, according to Salina Police Captain James Feldman.
The investigation determined the incident occurred on August 23, when a male subject, identified as Austin Proffitt, 31 of Salina, had struck the child in the head causing an injury.
Proffitt was also alleged to have told the child not to tell anyone or he would do it again. The child did receive medical treatment.
Proffitt was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Saline County Jail on requested charges of Abuse of a Child and Aggravated Intimidation of a witness.
