KANSAS CITY —Emergency crews rescued four people who were stranded in flood waters south of Kansas City.
Just after 9 p.m. Thursday, the Cass County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the area of Purvis Road. north of 203rd Street in Pleasant Hill, according to a media release.
Four people on a UTV were trapped in floodwater. The Cass County Sheriff's Office Disaster Emergency Response Team arrived to conduct a water rescue operation. The team used a rescue boat to recover the four people.
The group had been trapped in the water approximately a half mile from the nearest access point for almost two hours.
By 10:45 p.m., the people were rescued and reunited with family members.The Pleasant Hill Police Department, Pleasant Hill Fire Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted in this effort.
