KANSAS CITY—Law enforcement authorities investigating a hit-and-run incident that injured a 9-year-old in Kansas City have made contact with a person of interest.
Just after 7p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a pedestrian accident where a black sedan struck a 9-year-old boy who was walking across North Hardesty just south of Saida Avenue, according to Officer Alayna Gonzalez.
The sedan fled the scene. EMS transported the 9-year-old to the hospital in critical condition.
Detectives located the suspect vehicle and identified a person of interest. Detectives are pursuing charges as their investigation continues.
Thursday afternoon the child appears to be making positive headway towards recovery, according to Gonzalez.
