Gunshot detection alert led KCPD to location of homicide victim

KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement are investigating another homicide in Kansas City, Missouri.

just before 8a.m. Tuesday, police were dispatched to the 4000 block of Brooklyn Avenue on two separate calls for reported ShotSpotter activations, according to KCPD Officer Alayna Gonzalez.

Responding officers canvassed the area for any victims, or damage to property, as a result of potential gunfire. When officers arrived on scene, they located a vehicle that sustained gunshot damage and located a man later identified as 34-year-old Demetrius L. Hall inside, unresponsive, and suffering from multiple apparent gunshot wounds.

 EMS pronounced him deceased on scene.

Crime scene personnel, and Homicide detectives responded to the scene to begin canvassing the area for any evidence and to gather witness statements. There is not any preliminary information currently available that indicates what led up to the shooting, and police do not currently have a subject of interest identified.

This incident is being investigated as a homicide. Roselyn Temple, KC Mothers in Charge, and department social workers responded to the scene to begin providing assistance and resources to those impacted as a result of this incident.
