Great Bend public school employees will be responsible for installing 24 new rooftop HVAC units this summer at school facilities. USD 428 purchased the units directly from the manufacturer at the government rate of $119,400.

District Superintendent Khris Thexton said most of the work will be done in-house.

"These are installed by our staff," Thexton said. "When I say staff, it takes a good bunch of our group. We hire a crane that comes in, drops those on. And then Comfort Pro will come in and inspect them and give them their seal of approval."

The USD 428 Board approved the expenditure at their meeting on Monday. District employees Mark Miller and Zach Coster will be in charge of the project.
