Investigators: Kansas house fire intentionally set

SHAWNEE COUNTY—Fire investigators are investigating an arson fire in Topeka.

Just after 11p.m. August 10,  crews responded to a reported house fire at 1245 SW Randolph Avenue in Topeka, according to a media release.

Crews found smoke and flames coming from the porch of a two-story house, and were able to extinguish it.  where it originated. No occupants were found at the time of the incident.

Investigators determined the cause of the fire was was intentionally set. 

Estimated loss associated with the fire is approximately $30,000 with around $20,000 in structural damage and around $10,000 in content loss. Working smoke detectors were not located in the house. The incident remains under investigation.  Police have not reported an arrest.
