SHAWNEE COUNTY—Authorities are investigating the cause of a Kansas house fire.
Just after 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, crews responded to a house fire located at 2017 NW Logan Street in Topeka, according to spokesperson Gretchen Spiker. First arriving crews found smoke coming from the single-story home.
The resident of the home was able to escape prior to the arrival of fire crews. American Medical Response transported the resident to a local hospital for treatment of an unrelated medical issue.
The estimated loss from this incident is approximately $20,000. The home did not have working smoke detectors.
