On Friday, Adam Hamilton declined to participate in a second debate that was scheduled with Nexstar Television Network, according to a statement from the Senator Roger Marshall campaign,
"This would have been the largest televised audience ever for a debate in Kansas — airing on FOX4, KSN, KSNF, KSNT and KSNW— nearly 95% of the state."
Hamilton issued a statement through his communications director, Glynnis Harvey
“After winning the State Fair debate, Adam looks forward to debating Senator Marshall again. Negotiations are ongoing with several different potential debate hosts but it’s wonderful to see that the Senator finally wants to make appearances in front of Kansans and answer for his record of raising prices, championing the war in Iran, and cutting health care,” Harvey said Saturday via email with the Hays Post.
Senator Marshall accepted the debate on September 4th while Hamilton missed three separate deadlines before finally declining, according to Marshall's campaign.
“Adam Hamilton is afraid to debate without the manufactured crowds he bussed into the State Fair. He’s running away from this debate because he doesn’t actually stand for anything — all he offers are platitudes, colloquialisms, and theatrics,” said the Marshall Campaign.
“In less than a week since claiming it cut food stamps at the state fair debate, Hamilton has already flip flopped on the Farm Bill.
It’s clear Adam Hamilton stands for nothing and is too weak to stand on his own for Kansas.”
