RED WILLOW COUNTY, Neb. —One person died in a small plane crash just before noon Monday in southwest Nebraska.
The small plane crashed 1/8 of a mile southwest of the McCook Ben Nelson Regional Airport property, according to McCook City Manager Nate Schneider.
There were two occupants in the airplane. First responders found one deceased, and the second occupant was transported to the Community Hospital of McCook for treatment.
City of McCook personnel were on the scene of the crash and have contacted the appropriate federal agencies.
Officials secured the crash site and it will be maintained until investigators from the appropriate federal agencies arrive. Officials have not released names of the pilot or passenger. McCook is located 28 miles north of Oberlin, Kansas.
