KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a deadly shooting at a Kansas City home and have a suspect in custody.
Just after 3 p.m. Thursday, officers were dispatched to a reported EMS event at a home in the 11700 block of Troost Avenue in Kansas City, according to Police Captain Corey Carlisle.
First responders were directed inside the home and located a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. EMS pronounced the victim deceased.
The circumstances leading up to the homicide are unknown. Police have taken a subject of interest into custody.
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Personnel responded to the scene to recover any evidence and speak to any potential witnesses. This is the 173rd homicide in Kansas City in 2023, according to Sheriff Forte'.
