KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a deadly shooting at a Kansas City home and have a suspect in custody.

Just after 3 p.m. Thursday, officers were dispatched to a reported EMS event at a home in the 11700 block of&nbsp;Troost&nbsp;Avenue in Kansas City, according to Police Captain Corey Carlisle.

First responders were directed inside the home and located a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.&nbsp; EMS pronounced the victim deceased.

The circumstances leading up to the homicide are unknown.&nbsp; Police have taken a subject of interest into custody.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Personnel responded to the scene to recover any evidence and speak to any potential witnesses.&nbsp; This is the 173rd homicide in Kansas City in 2023, according to Sheriff Forte'.
