NEMAHA COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a case of alleged animal cruelty.

Just before 7p.m. Friday deputies responded to an animal call located on E Road approximately 200 yards north of 224th Road, according to a social media report from the Nemaha County Sheriff's Office in Seneca, Kansas.

Deputies found a dog that had been shot several times and left in the roadway. It is believed that the shooting happened between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

The Sheriff's Department wanted anyone with information on the case to contact them.  On Saturday, the sheriff's department did not provide an update on the dog breed or condition.
