In May, a jury found Huffman guilty of DUI and leaving the scene of a crash that killed  24-year-old Anastasia Carter in 2023. Huffman earlier pleaded no contest to driving with a suspended license and operating a vehicle without a required interlock device, according to the DA's office.

On November 22, 2023, Huffman’s truck struck a car driven by Carter at Shade Lane and Ridge Road, according to police. EMS transported Carter to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased.  Huffman has been in custody since the night of the crash, according to online jail records.

According to an online fundraiser Carter was the mother of three daughters, all under the age of three.
