COWLEY COUNTY—One person died in an accident just before 8a.m. Wednesday in Cowley County.

According to Cowley County Sheriff Dave Faletti, a 2010 Ford Expedition driven by Garrett Riggs, 24, of Moline, Kansas, was traveling in the 32000 block of U.S. Highway 160 near 102nd Road. Based on the investigation, including pre-crash movements and witness statements, it is believed the driver fell asleep, resulting in the loss of control and the SUV rolled.

Upon arrival, deputies located two individuals outside the vehicle requiring medical attention. Personnel from Winfield Fire/EMS were actively extricating a third occupant from the vehicle. That individual identified as Wrangler Sweet, 32, of Sedan, Kansas, was pronounced deceased at the scene.  EMS transported Riggs and the front seat passenger identified as Levi Sweet, 16, of Sedan, Kansas, to Wesley Medical Center.

The sheriff's office released no additional details.
