POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a shooting in rural Pottawatomie County and have made an arrest.
Just after 6a.m., sheriff's deputies responded to a 911 call of a shooting at a residence in the 4700 block of Blackjack Road in rural St. George, according to Sheriff Shane Jager.
First responders found an adult who had suffered a single gunshot wound. EMS transported the victim to a Topeka hospital.
During the investigation, deputies identified a suspect identified as 35-year-old Matthew R. Young of Rural Wamego. With the assistance of the Riley County Police Department, deputies located Young in Manhattan and arrested him on requested charges of Attempted Murder in second degree, according to Jager.
The sheriff's office did not release the name of the victim.
