DOUGLAS COUNTY—One person died in an accident just before 4 p.m. Monday in Douglas County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2017 Dodge SUV driven by Natiya D. Williams, 27, Lawrence, was westbound on U.S. 40 Highway two miles west of U.S. 59.
The SUV crossed the center line into the eastbound lane and struck a 2023 Nissan Sentra driven by Paul C. Duncan, 58, Lawrence. After impact a 2017 GMC SUV driven by Angela D. Chance, 44, Lawrence ran over debris on the roadway.
Duncan was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to the county coroners office.
EMS transported Williams to KU Medical Center and Chance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. All three drivers were properly restrained, according to the KHP. Three juveniles were present in the Dodge SUV; juvenile record is protected data, according to the KHP.
