A controlled burn got out of control Wednesday afternoon in rural Reno County.
According to Reno County Emergency Management, a little after 4 p.m. Wednesday, Reno County Fire District # 4 was paged to a grass and brush fire in the area of Irish Creek and Partridge.
Reno County Fire District # 4 requested Reno Kingman Joint Fire District # 1 and Fire District # 8 for mutual aid.
Twelve apparatus and fourteen firefighters along with two support vehicles and three people from Reno County Emergency Management worked to suppress the fire.
The fire was brought under control a little after 6 p.m. Units remained on scene to mop up hotspots until 8:15 p.m. Approximately 200 acres burned.
