SEDGWICK COUNTY —A man accused in a deadly shooting made his first court appearance in the case Tuesday.
Matthew Alexander III, 30 of Wichita, is charged with 1st degree murder, attempted 1st degree murder, or in the alternative aggravated battery, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, criminal possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, battery, kidnapping and aggravated burglary, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.
He being held on a bond of two-million dollars.
Just before 11:30p.m. Sept. 21, police were dispatched to a reported shooting in the area of 800 S. Mission in Wichita, according to Officer Juan Rebolledo.
First responders located two shooting victims including 48-year-old Adraine Kenney of Wichita who was pronounced dead at the scene. EMS transported a 22-year-old woman to a local hospital with critical injuries.
Investigators and officers identified and apprehended Alexander without incident following a brief standoff in the 600 block of S. Mission.
Preliminary investigation revealed that all three individuals were involved in a disturbance which led to the suspect shooting the two women.
Alexander's next court appearance is scheduled before Judge Jeffrey Goering on October 5, according to the district attorney's office.
