HARVEY COUNTY— A Kansas man died in an accident just before 3:30p.m. Saturday in Harvey County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2018 Freightliner semi driven by 39-year-old Mohamed Adan Abdulahi was northbound on Interstate 135 just south of Kansas 156 in the right lane.

A 2016 Ford Fusion was legally parked on the right shoulder with a pedestrian identified as Richard Anthony Hall, 44, Overland Park, standing in front of it.

Due to heavy traffic, the semi was unable to move to the left lane to pass the stationary vehicle. The truck-tractor slowed down as it approached the Ford. As the semi was passing the Ford Fusion, the pedestrian ran into the roadway. The truck-tractor struck the pedestrian with the front right corner of the vehicle.

Hall was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to the Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center.

Abdulahi was properly restrained and not injured, according to the KHP. The KHP did not report where Abdulahj lived.
