Two arrested following K9 indicating on illegal narcotics

On Monday, June 1 at approximately 3:06 p.m. a detective with the Great Bend Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the alley at 12th and Frey Street for an equipment violation on a 2001 Pontiac Bonneville.

Christopher Whiting, w/m 38, was identified as the driver of the vehicle and Brianna Feist, w/f 22, as the passenger.

During the stop, Great Bend Police Service Dog, Menta was deployed and conducted a free air sniff around the exterior of the vehicle. After performing the sniff, K9 Menta indicated to the presence of illegal narcotics.

A search of the vehicle was conducted, and suspected opiates were located inside the vehicle. Marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located, concealed on Feist's person. Whiting and Feist were arrested and booked into the Barton County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.
