LYON COUNTY—One person was injured and  another arrested after an accident just before 10a.m. Sunday in Lyon County.

According to Sheriff's Corporal Collin Brozek, a 2026 Polaris Ranger driven by 74-year-old Danny Eugene Broyles, of Madison, and a Buick Enclave driven by 44- year-old Lisa Jo Rickabaugh of Emporia, were southbound on S Highway 99 at Road 40.

The Buick driver failed to yield, as the Polaris Ranger decelerated to make a turn. The SUV rear-ended the UTV  causing it to overturn. Broyles, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle.

The Buick came to rest in the ditch on the southeast corner of the intersection. The Polaris Ranger came to rest in the ditch on the south west corner of the intersection.

Lifesave transported Broyles to Stormont Vail in Topeka for treatment of  serious injuries. Rickabaugh, who was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash, sustained nonlife-threatening injuries and was evaluated at the scene by Emporia/Lyon County EMS.  Deputies then paced her under arrest for on a requested charge of driving under the influence and aggravated battery with a vehicle.

The accident is still being investigated, according to Brozek.
