TOPEKA —Governor Laura Kelly opened her Wednesday news briefing saying she will a sign new emergency declaration on Thursday that will last through May 13.
The emergency disaster declaration was set to expire May 1.
The State Finance Council can then extend it for 30 days and the Kansas legislature would have to extend it beyond that, according to the governor. The stay-at-home order will end Sunday.
The governor will reveal her plans for re-opening the state at 6:30p.m. Thursday.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Kansas increased by 247 to a total of 3738, the state health department reported Wednesday afternoon. Coronavirus deaths were reported at 125.
