🎥 Gov. Kelly, KDHE Secretary give virus fight update

TOPEKA —Kansas Governor Laura Kelly and KDHE Secretary Dr. Lee Norman discussed a variety of issues concerning the coronavirus pandemic during their Monday news conference.

The governor mentioned unemployment claims that are up by 3,400 percent and claims through the state web site are up 6,833 percent.

She also announced an executive order extending temporary relief from some rules and regulations for motor carriers assisting with coronavirus relief. 

Dr. Norman discussed the increase of just 39 positive virus cases in Kansas from Sunday  to Monday. He reported the KDHE is  monitoring 23 virus outbreaks including 12 in long term care facilities, 2 in group living homes, 3 in private businesses and 5 among religious gatherings in addition to the outbreak at the Lansing Correctional Facility where there are 37 cases including 17 inmates and 20 members of the staff.
