Kansas State Fair issues statement on death of Joe Diffie

HUTCHINSON -- The Kansas State Fair has released a statement concerning the death of Joe Diffie.

The 61-year-old country star on Friday announced that he had contracted the coronavirus, becoming the first country star to go public with such a diagnosis. Diffie's publicist Scott Adkins said the singer died Sunday due to complications from the virus.

Following is the statement from the Kansas State Fair.

It’s with heavy hearts that we announce Joe Diffie, one of our 2020 Nex-Tech Wireless Grandstand acts, has passed away due to complication of COVID-19. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time and others who have been affected by this virus.

We are currently working on different programming options for the Sept. 15 concert with Logan Mize. In respect to all Joe’s fans, we will provide details soon on your ticket options.
