Police ID victim in deadly Kansas shooting

WYANDOTTE COUNTY— Law enforcement are investigating a shooting that left one man dead and another with critical injuries.

Just before 1:30 a.m. August 25, police were dispatched to report of a shooting in the 900 block of Washington Boulevard in Kansas City, Kansas, according to a media release.

First responders found a man outside and alert. EMS transported him to hospital for treatment of critical injuries.

A short time later,  police discovered a second victim  near the 800 block of Washington Boulevard. He was taken to a hospital, but he later died from his injuries.

Detectives with the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department have identified the victim in an early morning shooting, Saturday, August 24, in the 800 block of Washington Blvd.That victim, David Dawkins, 6/20/1977, a resident of Kansas City, Kansas died at an area hospital from his injuries. This incident is under investigation by the KCKPD Major Case Unit. Anyone with information on this case is urged to call the Crime Stoppers TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
