The Great Bend Lady Panthers quest to win the first ever Girls State Wrestling Championship came up just short Thursday as they finished in second place, just four points behind state champion Topeka Washburn-Rural. The Junior Blues finished with 84 points followed closely by Great Bend with 84. Paola was a distant third with 40 points. Hoisington finished tied for 21st with 20 points.
The Panthers were paced by three 3rd place finishes that included Breckyn Elliott at 101, Brianna Ridgeway at 130 and Briana Perez at 155. Kyeal Mogbo took 4th at 235 while Lexi Deines at 136 went 0-2 and did not place.
Hoisington was led by a 4th place finish by Baily Sanders at 155. Tally Wikum at 136 went 0-2 and did not place.
