Sheriff: Student made alleged threat to shoot up Kansas school

FORD COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities and USD 459 are investigating an alleged school threat and have a suspect in custody.

Just before 11a.m. Thursday, sheriff's deputies received information about a school shooting threat at the school in Bucklin, 422 South Main Street, according to Ford County Sheriff Bill Carr.

Deputies learned that a male student had allegedly made comments about shooting up the school.

Just before noon, deputies located the student and took him into custody without incident, according to Carr.

Charges including the alleged felony crime of aggravated criminal threat will be forwarded to the Ford County Attorney.

Every second counts in a matter of public safety and witness cooperation is vital to the investigation, according to  Carr.
