One person, two dogs escape Kansas house fire

Hutchinson— A cooking fire caused damage to a home in Hutchinson on Thursday.

Just before 12:30 p.m. Thursday., fire crews responded to the 818 East 7th Avenue in Hutchinson for a reported structure fire, according to Fire Chief Steve Been.

The house is a one story, single family residence and was occupied by one adult who was able to escape and notify the fire department. First arriving units found a fire in the kitchen of the residence. Fire crews were able to make a quick extinguishment of the fire. The fire was extinguished with moderate damage to the interior of the house.

Two dogs were inside the residence and escaped unharmed. Fire crews remained on scene for an hour conducting overhaul and investigation. Investigators have ruled the fire, unattended cooking. There were no injuries reported. Red Cross is assisting the resident.
