Local Churches Host Lenten Luncheons

The Barton County Association of Churches announces the 2020 Lenten Luncheons. The purpose of these weekly ecumenical gatherings is to provide an opportunity to join together in Christian fellowship and to create space for personal reflection and spiritual growth during Lent. The luncheons begin serving at 12:00 noon (not earlier) and continue to 1:00 p.m. on five consecutive Wednesdays beginning March 4th. A free will offering is suggested to help defray the expenses incurred by the host congregation. The public is welcome to attend all of the luncheons.

March 4:         First Presbyterian Church, 2400 Washington St., in partnership with First Congregational Church/UCC and First Church of the Nazarene, The Rev. Kathleen Luke, Host Pastor Diana Webster, Claflin United Methodist Church, Speaker               

March 11:       Trinity Lutheran Church, 2710 24th St., The Revs. Barbara Jones and Jon Brudvig,Hosts. The Rev. Don Bedore, Prince of Peace Parish, Speaker

March 18:       First United Methodist Church, 2123 Forest Ave., The Rev. Morita Truman, Host. The Rev. Adam Wutka, St. Mark Lutheran Church (Great Bend) & St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (Galatia), Speaker.

March 25:       St. Rose Auditorium, 1412 Baker Ave., The Rev. Don Bedore, Host. Sister Francine Schwarzenberger, O.P., Dominican Sisters of Peace, Speaker.

April 1:            Central Baptist Church, 3301 Lakin Ave., The Rev. Daniel Dugas, Host.  The Rev. Aaron Withrow, Foundry Methodist Church, Speaker.

St. Mark Lutheran Church-Annual Roast Beef Dinner-Sunday, February 23rd

St. Mark Lutheran Church in Great Bend will host their annual “Roast Beef Dinner” on Sunday, February 23rd in the Church Fellowship Hall, 2101 Jackson, Great Bend. The menu includes roast beef, potatoes, green beans, roll, homemade dessert & drink. Serving will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Carry-out will be available. Admission is by free-will offering at the door. All proceeds will go to Central States Synod PMA Fund to assist those interested in pursuing ministry.
