Great Bend High School A Cappella Choir members prepare to illuminate the holiday season with the 83rd Annual Vespers Concert scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. in the Great Bend High School Auditorium. The community is invited to attend this free event.

A favorite community holiday tradition, the 83 rd Annual Vespers will be held on

Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. at the Great Bend High School Auditorium located at 2027 Morton Street in Great Bend.

Featuring the A Cappella Choir directed by Susan Stambaugh and accompanied by Lorrie Stickney, Vespers shares the sights and sounds of the season through narration and song. More than 50 choir members, with additional percussion, horn and other musicians, will share this tradition with the community this year.

The first Vespers concert at GBHS was held in 1936, 83 years ago.

“Vespers is a memorable concert for my students, the audience, and the community,” said Stambaugh. “As we celebrate 83 years, it’s impressive to think of the hundreds of students who have participated in this tradition over the years.”

The community is invited to attend this free concert. Vespers will be followed by the USD 428 Youth Choir’s holiday performance at 3:30 p.m. at the GBHS Auditorium.
