The warm and sunny "chamber weather" on Friday helped make for a well attended celebration of one year in business at La Cabana Bar and Grill.
The Salina Area Chamber of Commerce hosted the ribbon cutting ceremony with La Cabana owner, Sandy Lopez.
"We opened up in May of last year and it has been so great to see so many people in the restaurant," Marco Rico, Lopez's son, said.
La Cabana also features a full bar. Several event attendees ordered on of the 98 cent margaritas offered in Lime, Strawberry, Mango, Pina Colata, Peach and Watermelon.
Two years ago Lopez was working at the Salina Central Mall at an ice cream shop.
"She saved little by little over those two years and now she is living her dream," Rico said.
When asked what sets her kitchen apart from the other Mexican restaurants in town Lopez said, "Authenticity."
Lopez moved her hands quickly, demonstrating the way she makes her tortillas every day.
"Everything we make is authentic Mexican food," Lopez said. "The tortillas are authentic. The beans and rice are authentic, the meat, everything."
La Cabana is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday and is closed on Sunday.
