The Barton Baseball Cougars nearly had a sweep of their four-game series with the Garden City Broncbusters but fell short as Garden salvaged the final game of the series Saturday at Williams Stadium in Garden City.

The Broncbusters beat the Cougars 10-9 in game two of the double header after Barton had taken game one 12-10 in 8-innings. The Cougars had taken the first two games of the series with a double header sweep in Great Bend.

With four games left in the season, Barton is 16-12 in Jayhawk Conference play, one game behind Butler and Cloud County for third place.

Barton wraps up the regular season starting Thursday at home against Cloud County. The Cougars will then play in Concordia Saturday in the final two games of the regular season.

The Region 6 playoffs begin May 14.
