Police: Threat ends, Garden City Com. College remains closed

FINNEY COUNTY — There was a large first responder presence at Garden City Community College, 801 North Campus Drive in Garden City, Thursday morning, according to a social media report from police.

Just before noon, the school reported there is no ongoing threat to the public. Local law enforcement are working with GCCC officials to ensure student and staff safety. Normal business operations, including classes, remain closed for the duration of the day.

The lockout for all schools in USD 457 was also lifted, according to a social media report from the district.  The rest of the school day will continue as normal.

FINNEY COUNTY — There is a large first responder presence at Garden City Community College, 801 North Campus Drive in Garden City, according to a social media report from police.

Just before 10a.m. Thursday, the school reported a combined law enforcement response continued to sweep campus. The college is following its procedures for a potential intruder.

There continue to be no normal college operations at this time, and we continue to ask those who are off campus to not come to campus.

In addition, all schools in Garden City are on lockout, according to USD 457.  No one will be allowed in or out of the buildings, but classes will continue as normal inside.
