HARPER COUNTY  – A Kansas teen has been sentenced to nearly five years in prison for the attempted second-degree murder of another 18-year-old, according to Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt.

Brian Sandoval, 18, of Anthony, was sentenced in Harper County District Court by Judge Galen T. Wood to 59 months in prison followed by three years of post-release supervision and to pay $9,390.46 in restitution to the victim.

Sandoval pleaded guilty in March to one count of attempted second-degree murder for stabbing the victim in December 2020.

The case was investigated by the Anthony Police Department. Assistant Attorney General Jessica Domme of Schmidt’s office prosecuted the case.
