Police: 2 from SW Kan. arrested for alleged armed robbery

SHAWNEE COUNTy –Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspects who allegedly robbed a Topeka restaurant Sunday evening.

Just before 7:00 p.m. Sunday, police responded to the Jimmy John’s, 1025 SW Wanamaker Road on a report of an armed robbery, according to police spokesperson Gretchen Spiker.

Employees stated that an unknown man and woman entered the business, displayed a handgun and demanded money from staff. The suspects fled in a truck with an undisclosed amount on money.

The suspects later crashed the truck near I-70 and Valencia Road and fled on foot. A K-9 tracked the suspects and apprehended them near the crash scene.

As a result of the investigation police arrested Lekeith M. Mosley, 29, and Shelbi P. Ricks, 25, both of Liberal  on requested charges of Aggravated Robbery, Interference with LEO, Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Law Enforcement Officer, Reckless Driving and other charges.

The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office and the Kansas Highway Patrol assisted with the arrest.
