SEDGWICK COUNTY — A suspect arrested after fleeing from deputies  following the recovery of a reported stolen vehicle is out of the hospital and in jail.

Just before noon June 25, a Sedgwick County Sheriff's deputy located a reported stolen Dodge Durango in the 4500 block of South Hydraulic, according to Sheriff's Deparatment spokesman Branden Still. The deputy turned around to conduct a traffic stop, but the Durango pulled into a nearby mobile home park.

As the deputy approached, the male driver later identified as 44-year-old Eric Almack of Wichita, fled on foot, leaving behind a female passenger. Deputies, with assistance from the Wichita Police Department, established a perimeter around the mobile home park.

A Wichita Police Department K-9 team located Almack hiding beneath the porch of a mobile home. Officers gave Almack multiple commands to surrender and warned that a police service dog would be deployed if he did not comply. When the suspect refused to surrender, the K-9 was deployed.

Almack sustained non-life-threatening injuries to his upper body during the apprehension. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. On Friday Almack was booked into Sedgwick County Adult Detention Facility.
