DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — The U.S. military reports the first U.S. troop deaths from direct Iranian fire since the war's early days. Two were killed and one is missing after an attack on a base in Jordan on Friday.

On his social media account, Kansas U.S. Senator Roger Marshall wrote, "We mourn the loss of these two brave warfighters as we continue to grieve with the families of the 14 servicemembers who made the ultimate sacrifice for our safety and freedom. This is why, as President Eisenhower said, “I hate war as only a soldier who has lived it can.”

Iran's supreme leader warned of "unforgettable lessons" if the U.S. continues its attacks. The U.S. and Iran have been exchanging strikes, affecting infrastructure and threatening civilians. The conflict over the Strait of Hormuz has intensified, impacting global oil prices. Iran has effectively closed the strait to shipping, and the U.S. has reimposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports.
