KANSAS CITY —Authorities are working to determine the cause of house fire that sent one firefighter to the hospital.
Just after 6a.m. Saturday, crews responded to a reported house fire in the 5400 block of Wabash, according to Battalion Chief Michael Hopkins. Crews reported fire from the rear of the structure on arrival.
The home owner was reportedly away at the time. Fire impeded on the weather head to the structure causing the transformer to blow and loss of power to several homes on the block.
One firefighter was transported a local hospital for evaluation for injuries sustained during a search of the home, according to Hopkins. There were no other injuries.
