Security camera footage leads to Kan. armed robbery arrest

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspects following an aggravated robbery.

Just after 10:30p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 2000 block of North Kansas Avenue on a report of an armed robbery, according to LT Shane Hilton.

The suspect reportedly entered the store, brandished a firearm and left with an undisclosed amount of money.

Based on descriptions from witnesses and the assistance of security camera footage, officers were able to develop a description of the suspect. The suspect, later identified as 31-year-old Mason B. Mendoza was located by a Shawnee County Sheriff’s Deputy in the area.

Officers arrested Mendoza and booked him into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of Aggravated Robbery, Conspiracy

As a result of the investigation, officers arrested Tina L. Shotwell, 48, and booked her on requested charges of Aggravated Robbery, Conspiracy, Interference with LEO- Falsely reporting a felony intending to obstruct, Interference with LEO- Conceal/alter/destroy evidence in a felony case and a Misdemeanor Arrest Warrant, according to Lt. Hiton.
