SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating how a grenade was placed in a donation box at a Goodwill store in Wichita.
Just after 1:30p.m. Monday, police were dispatched on a report of a suspicions device found at the Goodwill on S. Rock Road in Wichita, according to Officer Kris Gupilan.
First responders learned a grenade had been found inside the donation bin. Officers implemented safety measures and the immediate area was evacuated.
The Wichita Police Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit was called to the scene. They located the grenade and deemed it safe and took the grenade to be further examined.
The business was reopened shortly after the grenade was removed. There were no injuries reported.
