SEDGWICK COUNTY– A man was sentenced Tuesday following the drug death of his infant son.

District Judge Jeffrey Goering sentenced 26-year-old Calvin Vick of Wichita to just over 18-years in prison, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.

Vick’s 22-month-old son Israel Luna-Vick was taken to a Wichita hospital on June 22, 2022 after he was found unresponsive on the floor of Vick’s apartment in the 8400 block of east Harry in Wichita.

Wichita Police searched the Vick apartment and found four tablets in the carpet and underneath the child’s sleeping area. Testing at the Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center showed the pills contained Fentanyl.

An autopsy at the Forensic Science Center showed the child died after ingesting methamphetamine and Fentanyl.
