WYANDOTTE COUNTY —The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit of the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department worked to secure a residence where a large amount of explosive material consistent with the manufacturing of fireworks, was discovered on Tuesday, according to a media release.
Just after noon Tuesday, officers were dispatched to the 7400 block of Riverview on an armed disturbance. Police took a woman into custody without incident. While conducting a search warrant at the residence, officers discovered the explosive material.The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit collected all materials and safely disposed of it
As a precaution, several neighboring homes were evacuated and the 7300-7600 block of Riverview was temporarily closed to all traffic while police conducted their investigation.
