SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating several suspects on a variety of requested charges after a chase.
Just after 10 p.m. Dec. 24, a deputy with the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a purple Dodge Charger near SE 37th Street and South Kansas Avenue without any headlight, according Sheriff Brian Hill.
The driver refused to stop and continued driving to a residence in the 3800 block of SE Evans Drive where three passengers ran from the vehicle. The deputy quickly pursued them and took Gesus J. Handy, 19, into custody. Handy had a loaded and altered firearm in his possession
Handy was booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on charges of:Criminal carry of a weapon, interference with law enforcement. The driver faces multiple charges, according to Sheriff Hill.
